Ellen Edefell
Water and Environmental Engineering at the Department of Chemical Engineering
PhD student
Area of expertise:
Waste Water
Research keywords:
Reduction of organic micropollutants, for example pharmaceuticals, with biological degradation and adsorption to activated carbon
Research mission:
My goal with my research is to increase the state of knowledge for advanced wastewater treatment both nationally and internationally.
Core interest in research field:
Creating cleaner water and a safe environment
Feelings about being a researcher:
I appreciate the variation in my work and the possibilities to contribute to social development by means of cleaner water
Biggest challenges/opportunities in research:
My research is mostly based on long term experiments which does not always fit well with project deadlines and PhD studies. In the larger perspective, I see a challenge in nationwide implementation of advanced treatment for pharmaceutical reduction. But this is also where I find the biggest opportunities. I think Sweden has great potential for upgrading the wastewater treatment systems.
